I don't remember when I bought this lilac bush. We have lived in our house for 5 years, so I'm going to guess I bought it 3 years ago, maybe 4. There isn't much in our yard that I have planted that I'm particularly proud of or attached to. I haven't killed our hostas or daisies yet, so I guess I'm pretty proud of those. My little peony bloomed for the first time last year, but it still looks pretty sad overall. My lilac, though, flourishes every year. Well, it has a lot of new growth every year, but I have yet to see an actual lilac flower. Until 2 days ago, that is!
